The Woman Behind the Unfiltered

Hi, I’m Maria.

I’m a wife, a mom, an HR professional, and a woman who has spent a lot of years being the one who keeps moving no matter what.

The one who handles it.

The one who says, “I’ve got it.”

The one who figures shit out because, well, somebody has to.

But life isn’t always inspiring.

Sometimes it’s beautiful. Sometimes it’s funny. Sometimes it’s loud and chaotic and full of people you love.

And sometimes it’s just fucking hard.

Sometimes life is unfair. Sometimes people disappoint you. Sometimes things happen that make absolutely no sense. Sometimes you do everything right and still get hurt. Sometimes there is no bright side you feel like looking at.

And I’m tired of pretending every painful thing needs to come with a lesson.

I don’t always want to hear that everything happens for a reason.

I don’t always want someone to tell me to stay positive.

Sometimes I want to be mad.

Sometimes I want to say this is bullshit.

Sometimes I want to admit that something hurt me, changed me, pissed me off, broke my heart, or made me question everything.

And I think we should be allowed to do that.

I created Life, Unfiltered with Maria because I wanted a place for the parts of life that don’t fit neatly into a motivational quote.

The uncomfortable conversations.

The complicated relationships.

The motherhood moments that aren’t quite magical.

The marriage seasons nobody posts.

The grief.

The resentment.

The guilt.

The exhaustion.

The loneliness that can exist even when your life is full of people.

The moments when you love your life and still want to run away from it for five minutes or five days.

The moments when you’re grateful and angry at the same damn time.

Because that’s real too.

I’m not here to convince anyone to look on the bright side.

I’m here to talk about what happened before we ever got there.

The messy middle.

The part where you don’t know what the lesson is yet.

The part where maybe there isn’t one.

Some stories here will be funny. Some will be heavy. Some will be uncomfortable. Some may piss people off. Some may make you feel seen in ways you didn’t expect.

But I don’t want this space to be polished enough that the truth disappears.

So no, this probably won’t always be rainbows and unicorns, if ever.

Sometimes it’ll be dark.

Sometimes it’ll be sad.

Sometimes it’ll be angry.

Sometimes it’ll be, “Well, that was completely fucked up.”

And sometimes we’ll laugh until we can’t breathe.

That’s life.

Real life. No highlight reel.

Grab a seat. Grab your drink of choice.

We can talk about the ugly parts too.

There’s More to the Story

I’ve learned that life rarely looks the way we thought it would. Some chapters have stretched me, some have changed me, some have really hurt me, and some I’m still learning how to put into words.

This space is where I get to tell these stories - the good, the hard, the funny, the messy, and everything in between.
